Redefining Prayer: From Passive Requests to Co-Creative Command

Prayer has always been presented to me as a way to connect with the divine, to ask for guidance, protection, or blessings. But as I continue on this journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth, I find that the traditional notion of prayer doesn’t quite fit with who I am or what I believe. The idea of passively asking for something—whether it’s protection, healing, or any other form of intervention—has started to feel misaligned with my understanding of the world and my role within it.

I don’t see the divine in the way that many others do. My connection isn’t to some external force that I need to petition or ask for favours. Instead, I resonate more deeply with the idea of energy, of a force that flows through everything and everyone, a force that I can interact with, shape, and direct. This isn’t about asking; it’s about commanding, co-creating with the energies that surround me.

So, what is prayer for me?

It’s not a request—it’s a declaration. When I pray, I’m not asking for something to happen; I’m weaving my will with the energies I’m calling upon. I recognise the power and agency in the forces I engage with, whether it’s the wind from the north, the protective energy of my home, or the guiding spirits of my ancestors. I acknowledge their strength, and I bring my own power into the equation. Together, we co-create the outcomes I seek.

Prayer, for me, is now a co-creative command. It’s a conscious act of aligning my intentions with the energies I’m working with, setting a clear directive for what I want to manifest. When I call upon the wind of the north, I’m not merely asking for its presence—I’m summoning it, weaving its power with mine to create the reality I envision. It’s a serious, intentional act, not something to be done lightly or without purpose.

In this way, prayer becomes an active, dynamic force in my life. It’s not about hoping something will happen; it’s about making it happen. It’s spellwork, it’s energy weaving, it’s the very essence of my power as an Energy Weaver.

And I know that the words I speak in these prayers hold real power—they shape the energy around me, they influence the very fabric of my reality.

As I continue to explore this path, I find that the term "prayer" still fits, but with a qualifier. Whether it’s a protection prayer, a healing prayer, or another type of intentional act, I now define it as a co-creative process. It’s a partnership between me and the energies I engage with, a collaboration where we work together to bring forth what I desire.

This approach allows me to retain the essence of prayer while making it something that truly resonates with my identity and beliefs.

Interestingly, prayer is a practice found across nearly all spiritual traditions, though its form and function vary widely. In many religions, prayer is a way to communicate with a higher power—whether it’s God, the gods, or the universe itself.

In Christianity, for example, prayer often involves petitioning God for help, guidance, or forgiveness. It’s an act of faith and humility, placing one’s trust in the divine will.

In Islam, prayer is a central practice, performed five times a day as a way to maintain a constant connection with Allah. These prayers, or Salah, are structured and recited in a specific way, serving both as an act of worship and a reminder of the believer’s place within the larger cosmic order.

In Hinduism, prayer can take many forms, from simple offerings and mantras to elaborate rituals and ceremonies. It’s a way to honour the gods and seek their blessings, as well as to align oneself with the rhythms of the cosmos.

Even in more earth-based spiritual paths, like those found in indigenous traditions, prayer often involves connecting with the natural world, the ancestors, and the spirits. It’s a way to ask for protection, guidance, and harmony with the environment.

While these traditions may vary in their approaches to prayer, the common thread is the desire to connect with something greater than oneself—whether that’s a deity, a spiritual force, or the natural world. In my practice, prayer is about connecting with the energies around me, but it’s also about asserting my own power within that connection. It’s about recognizing that I am not just a passive participant, but an active co-creator in my own life and the world around me.

As I continue to explore this path, I’m embracing the idea that prayer is not just about asking for something, but about declaring it into existence. It’s about weaving my will with the energies I work with, creating a tapestry of intention, power, and manifestation.

This is what prayer means to me now—a powerful, intentional act of co-creation that honours both the energies around me and the power within me.

If you ever ask me to pray for you, create a ritual, or if I have sent you a healing hypnosis recording, know it’s not just words.

It’s a prayer from my spirit to your soul, a weaving of energy and intention to manifest the healing, protection, or transformation.
